Although gatwick has two terminals (north and south), it only has one runway. The terminals are connected via a free monorail.

Both terminals have an information desk, bureaux de change, ATMs, shops, duty-free stores, restaurants and bars. There is a post office in the south terminal.

Getting there by road: The airport is located 28 miles south of central London. It is linked to the M23 motorway. Drivers should turn off at junction 9 and follow signs for the airport. London Gatwick is also accessible from the A23 London-Brighton Road.

Getting their on public transport: Gatwick has a main line railway station at south terminal; there are more than 900 services daily to and from all parts of the UK.

The Gatwick Express train service runs to and from London's Victoria station takes 30 minutes. Alternative services by Thameslink take 40 minutes. South Central, Connex, Thames trains and Virgin also run trains to the airport. holidayextras offer 'train plus hotel' packages.

Coaches: from the ground floor of the south terminal coaches run to a good number of destinations including Heathrow airport (Speedlink), London Victoria (Flightline), Oxford (Citylink) and National Express run to destinations nationwide. holidayextras also offer 'coach plus hotel' packages.

Airport Hotels: On site hotels include London Gatwick Hilton Hotel at the South Terminal and Le Meridien Hotel at the North Terminal. Airport parking: Each terminal has a short-term car park operated by NCP offering direct access to the terminal. Prices are quite reasonable (at least when compared to heathrow) at around £17.50 for 24 hours (or £1.90 for 30 minutes).

Long-term parking at gatwick involves a trip on a courtesy bus. Buses run 24 hours; for on airport car parks allow at least 15 minutes extra for this transfer. Expect to pay around £8.50 a day.

On airport long term car parks are: parking express, summer special (which runs 365 days a year) and flightpath.

Off airport car parks are slightly further from the airport. You should allow around 30 minutes for your transfer to the airport. Off airport car parks are: APH, BCP, cophall farm, courtlands and holiday parking.
